Call for Letter of No Confidence in Boris Johnson

East Herts Green Party calls on Julie Marson, MP for Hertford and Stortford since 2019, to submit a letter of no confidence in the Prime Minister to the Chair of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs. It is long past time that she do so.

The lies of the PM have become a national disgrace and a global embarrassment, but he should have been removed from office when he tried to illegally dismiss Parliament; or when he stood at the Dispatch Box and lied to Parliament; or when he proposed to break international law to destroy a Treaty on Northern Ireland that he negotiated; or when his government lost billions over unfulfilled Covid contracts handed out without due diligence. There are so many reasons why MPs should have withdrawn confidence in the worst Prime Minister in British history.

The new Conservative leader, as soon as chosen, should call an early election and give the country the chance to reject this corrupt and incompetent government at the soonest date possible. We need a government that will deal with fuel prices, not by subsidising fossil fuel companies but by investing immediately and at massive scale in measures to cut the cost of living for all including renewable energy, home insulation, sustainable mass transport, safe cycling and electric vehicles. This must be matched with a programme of measures for social, economic and environmental justice that begins to build a better future for Britain.
