District Councillor for Ware Trinity Ward
James Frecknall moved to Ware in September 2015 and immediately fell in love with the community - the people, the place, the architecture and the countryside. With his young family, he has thrown himself into all aspects of the local area, through volunteering with local events and becoming part of various different community groups from parent classes to local theatre.
As a full time primary school teacher (leading inclusion), equity in society drives much of what he does, whether professionally or as part of his role on the East Herts District Council. As the council's walking and cycling champion he is proud to have supported organisations with grant applications and has plans for more walking and cycling events for the District (when society allows once again). As part of the Overview and Scrutiny Committee on the council, he has the opportunity to question and evaluate many of the council decisions and although often only one voice, he takes this responsibility exceptionally seriously as every opinion starts with only one voice.
When not working on council business, or teaching, James is working with a group of local people to set up a community orchard in the local area...they are always on the look out for new members!
